About WeatherDestination

Why I'm Building This

I've spent years planning trips around weather, only to arrive at destinations during monsoon season, unbearable heat, or terrible air quality. Every time, I'd think: "Why isn't there a simple tool that tells me the best time to visit?"

Sure, there are weather apps. But they show you today's forecast or maybe the next 10 days. What I needed was seasonal patterns, air quality trends, and comfort metrics—all in one place. Something that answers: "When should I actually go to Bali? Or Lisbon? Or Tokyo?"

After searching for "best time to visit XYZ" for the hundredth time and finding nothing but generic travel blog listicles, I decided to build it myself.

What WeatherDestination Does

WeatherDestination is a weather-informed travel planning tool. It combines historical weather data, seasonal patterns, air quality metrics, and climate data to help you find the perfect time to visit any destination.

No more guessing. No more ruined trips. Just data-driven decisions.

Current Status

I'm currently in early development, collecting feedback from travelers like you. The core features are being built, starting with seasonal weather patterns for popular destinations, air quality data, and activity-specific recommendations.

Who's Building This

Hi, I'm a generalist software engineer who's been building stuff since 2014.

I've worked on everything from e-commerce platforms to large-scale enterprise systems across different industries.

I'm just someone who likes solving hard problems using whatever tool works best—whether that's Ruby, TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, PHP, or pen and paper.

In 2025, while balancing contract work and fatherhood (8-year-old son and a baby on the way), I started building tools I wish existed: SecureLogin (BYOI auth for AWS, Cloudflare & DigitalOcean) and RunMist (serverless deploys with SQLite). I also run HallOfShame.dev, a public hall of shame for exploitative tech employers.

When I'm not building or debugging, I'm lifting heavy things or sneaking in video game breaks with my son.

Want to Help?

WeatherDestination is still in early development. If you're a traveler, digital nomad, or someone who plans trips around weather, I'd love to hear from you.
